Materials
· Worsted weight yarn – less than a skein of red, black and grey – great stash buster! (I used Caron One Pound in Scarlett and Black and Red Heart Super Saver in Grey Heather)
· Size US 7 knitting needles
· Yarn needle
· 2 white buttons 1.25 diameter

co = cast on bo = bind off k = knit p = purl ss= stockinette stitch rs = right side
ws = wrong side

With red, co 42
Row 1: (rs) k 42
Row 2: (ws) p 42
Rows 3-6: Continue in ss
Row 7: K5, bo5, k22, bo 5, k5
Row 8: P5, co5, p22, co5, p5 (buttonholes made)
Rows 9-14: Continue in ss
Row 15: K8 (with red) – do not break off, join grey, k26 – do not break off grey, join red, k8
Row 16: P8 with red, p26 with grey, p8 with red
Rows 17-40: Continue as established (rows15 & 16) – grey “screen” should measure 4” in height. Break off grey.
Rows 41-50: Continue in ss with red
Row 51: K2 (with red) – do not break off, join black, k38 – do not break off black, join red, k2
Row 52: p2 with red, p38 with black, p2 with red
Rows 53-98: Continue as established (rows 51 & 52) – black “back” should measure 7.5” in height. Break off black.
Rows 99-102: Continue in ss with red
Row 103: Bo2, k40
Row 104: Bo2, p38
Rows 105-114: Continue in ss
BO and weave in ends. Sew side seams, stopping at black edge, leaving flap. Block and sew on buttons (see photo for placement).
